Bathroom Exhaust Fans

Bathroom fans with light are the newest trend when it comes to keeping mold and mildew away from your bathroom. Once they have taken ownership of your bath, it is very difficult to get rid of them with usual means.

Unfortunately they tend to attract all sorts of pests such as silverfish, the bane of any bathroom. By keeping the air circulating fresh and eliminating the extra moisture, bathroom ventilation fans are able to keep these pests at bay. Due to the fact that they are not noisy at all is an added benefit for anyone who enjoys a nice hot bath in a relaxed and calm atmosphere.

Like I mentioned before the the bathroom exhaust fans is available nowadays with lights and also with a small heater which is perfect in those cool nights when the regular heating is not yet turned on. Usually these are Energy Star qualified as they save electricity while working. The decorative vent lighting is available in many styles, colors and finishes and you can even find some that include nightlights. Having such a ventilation fan in your bathroom is truly the best bathroom fan solution today on the market.

The most popular brand of this particular bathroom fan category is Broan. The Broan recessed exhaust fan with light is perfect for any bathroom up to 70 square feet, and it can also be used in other rooms that are up to 85 square feet. It has a 70 CFM / 2.0 Sones centrifugal blower and comes with a plug-in motor that is surrounded by 24 gauge fan housing made of galvanized steel. It includes a 4 inch round duct connector with back draft damper and it weights less than 10 lbs alltogether. Many people buy this brand because it is labeled as an Eco-Friendly product.

Decorative bathroom fans with light can have a base either glass or metal or even oak wood and mostly are ceiling mounted which means they can easily draw steam from the source while also enhancing the lighting of any bathroom. Many have ball bearing motors that enable a longer shelf life of the motor. You can find them either in standard models, meaning that they are working based on a remote switched (make sure that the manufacturer actually supplies the switch, as many don't), or timer models, which means you need to use a switch for operation. However once switched on, the ventilation fan works for a given time (can be preset) until it switches automatically off. You can adjust the time between 1-20 minutes of continuous functioning mode.

In order to properly calculate how big a fan you need for your bathroom, this is how to work it out. First measure the square footage of your bathroom. If you have less than 100  sq.ft., then yo utake 1CFM per sq.ft.. Most of the times a vent fan of either 50 or 75 CFM is enough. If you have more than 100 sq.ft you need to use 50 CFM per fixture. That is 50 CFM for the toilet, shower and for the cockpit. Then you add 100 CFM if you have a jet bath. So basically for one bath of 100 sq. ft you'd really need an exhaust fan of 150 CFM.
